Hello, Everyone!
This is to share a program – or series of programs – that I did in June of 2004. It’s a very low key production, so to speak. So, if low key is not your cup of tea, feel free to bypass the rest of this letter. Alright?
In 2004 when I produced my series of mention, my Dear Mom had just passed from old age at the Powell, Wyoming Nursing Home in my home town of Powell, Wyoming. I had been anticipating her passing and had been preparing an intended Sing-Along for shut-ins such as my Mom had been for a few years at that nursing home in Powell; however, it’s worthwhile to note that Mom was born on this day in 1908 in Michigan and Mom & Dad married on this day in 1928 – April 12th – in Chicago, Illinois where Dad was born; and from that wonderful union, out came 8 kids, of which I am the 7th. There were 3 girls and 5 guys born of Dad & Mom’s marriage. First came the 3 girls and after that, 5 of us guys. Three of that 8 have passed, but 5 of us still remain. In fact, one of us – Paul – will turn 87 on April 22nd. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PAUL!
Be that as it may, In 2004 when I was only 62 and could still remember some of many old songs, which I have a hard time doing now at the age of 83, I wanted to do something that I thought Mom might have liked if I had produced it while she was still alive. Mom passed in peace at the age of 96 on May 16th, 2004. Anyway, I decided that maybe I could offer shut-ins some kind of Sing-Along featuring many old time songs and a few of my own. So, after Mom passed in May of 2004, I took out my VHS camcorder and had at it – at my then home at Country Meadows mobile homes park in Laramie, Wyoming. I told you this production of note is very low key; and there is some proof of that – just singing out at my home with no one around but maybe a few crows and rabbits and squirrels. I had previously listed all the songs I would sing and even prepared a printout of those songs – which turned out to be quite a list of over 120 songs. Not knowing how it would go, I began taping around the 13th of June with a volume 1 and ended it on June 30th or so with a volume 4. For what it’s worth, each volume extends past 2 hours. You might want to take a break after a few songs and mark where you were – and then just continue after your nap or so. No hurry! Just go at your own speed – if you choose to go at all. LOL!
I have always liked song and have loved to sing them on my walks – which I have done all my life. That means singing them without accompaniment; and that is how I proceeded to produce my program for shut-ins that I would call SPENDING SOME TIME. I even wrote a song for the program or series of programs that I called by the same name – Spending Some Time.
Who knows how anything will go in life? I didn’t and don’t; but in 2008 or so, I converted my VHS series to DVD. Without going into any more detail, that series is out there in the net world. You can find it in the Video portion of my francisbessler.com website. Again, I am only an amateur and not a professional, but give it a shot if you like. You might even recognize one of my nearly 120 songs and do as I intended from the very beginning – Sing-Along. Sing out loud now; and you won’t hear me. LOL! I did it for shut-ins, but it’s out there for everyone. I even provide a file of the songs that you can tap into online – or even print out if you choose. Alright?
I do comment on occasion about my Divine Naturist Christian belief, however. So, I guess SPENDING SOME TIME is not only song, but a bit of commentary now and then too. I believe that God is Infinite and Everywhere - making Everything and Everyone Sacred - and I believe that Jesus also believed that – for reasons I cover in many of my works – available thru my websites. That is why I call myself a Divine Naturist Christian. Who knows? Maybe you will find yourself one too!
Anyway, that’s it for now. Tune in if you like and enjoy an amateur songster singing to the wind and with the wind. If it fits, as I intended with this series, Sing-Along. OK? And don’t fret if you think you can’t carry a tune. There are a lot of people who think I can’t either. Maybe they are right, but what does it matter? You should sing and sing out because of a feeling of joy. Let Joy Triumph! Sing out and sing with Joy. Your voice is your own as mine is my own. If I can sing – whether I can carry a tune or not – everyone can who has a voice!
So, SING IT OUT – and as one of my own songs says,
LIFT YOUR SPIRITS HIGH!
Alright?
Bye for now!
ALL MY LOVE! Your very low key songster,
Gently,
Francis William Bessler (Frank/Will – or as I was called in my youth - Sonny)
