Welcome, Amelia Frances/About Elections
9/20/2018

Hello, All!

First the good news - then a letter to the editor.

Yesterday, my youngest daughter, Melissa, who will be turning 40 on Oct 12th, emailed and phoned about the child she and companion, Jeff, are expecting. IT'S A GIRL! When I asked if they are thinking of a name, Melissa told me they are considering Amelia Frances. I guess the "Frances" is after me, but when I asked why Amelia, Melissa told me she just likes the name - and then mentioned the name of Amelia Earhart - is that her name? You know the flyer that went down in the '30s. Anyway, Melissa said that tests indicate that Amelia Frances is a girl about 12 weeks old in her womb at this time and that Amelia is doing fine. How about that? Nice to hear some good news in this world full of bad news right now - with Florence wreaking havoc in the Carolinas and the mess of political conflict going on in Washington.

And speaking of that mess, I wrote a letter to the editor yesterday about my norms in electing a U.S Representative and U.S. Senator. In Wyoming, both are incumbents seeking re-election - Representative Liz Cheney, daughter of former vice president, Dick Cheney, and Senator John Barrasso. My personal number 1 consideration is honesty; and I think we elected one who is not only dishonest to be our president in 2016, but one who is TERRIBLY DISHONEST. It is like telling the truth for Donald Trump is like eating poison. Accordingly, the "truth" is whatever the dude wants to say it is. Sorry, that is not the truth for me.

The truth for me is simply being open and concealing nothing. That is the "truth" for me. As my letter to the editor conveys, I like candidates who share my version of the truth - and if Liz or John express in their re-election campaigns that somehow they will support keeping a "deceitful one" as our president, then I cannot support their re-election. Even though I do vote Democratic most of the time, I do look for Republicans to vote for too. It is likely that I will support Democrats in the upcoming elections, but I have yet to decide that for sure. I intend to email both Liz Cheney and John Barrasso and include the letter below after I send this email. If they respond that the truth matters most to them, then it is likely I will vote for one or both of them, but if they contend that there are more important issues than the truth, then the opposing Democrat will get my vote. To each, his or her own. Wyoming is a very red state and it is unlikely that a Democrat can win, but I do not mind being on the losing side if the losing side supports my norms, know what I mean?

Hey, enough for now! Be in touch as you wish - and be sure and vote in November. I will end with my letter to the editor to our local paper, The Laramie Boomerang. My chances of being printed are about 50/50. My last submission did not get printed. Time will tell if the current one suffers the same fate.

Gently,

Subject: SHOULD FRAUD BE REWARDED?

Fraud on the part of a candidate is a big issue for me, though I must admit, it may not be for many others; but as important to me of not approving fraud in a candidate, it is equally important for me to not support a candidate who approves of fraud in another.

Currently, we are faced with having elected a “fraud” to be our President. Donald Trump has proven to be a fraud by virtue of intentionally keeping hidden many things about him that may well have kept him from being chosen to be our President. He has proven himself guilty of adulterous affairs that if known would have probably caused us to reject his candidacy; and he is probably guilty of many financial improprieties, so to speak, that if known would have kept him from being elected. We can reasonably assume Donald is guilty of such financial improprieties by his absolute refusal to share his financial history with an electorate.

So what – for this election? Remember, I argued that I do not approve of fraud in a candidate, but neither do I approve of one who approves of fraud. Fraud, for me, is a complete disabler, as it were. We should not only disapprove of fraud before an election, but if an elected office holder has demonstrated fraud, then that one should be impeached or indicted or both. Thus my main issue in the forthcoming election is, do you approve of the fraud of Donald Trump? If you do, either by agreeing with that fraud or by agreeing to justify it by leaving Donald Trump in office, then I will not vote for you.

Senator John Barrasso and Representative Liz Cheney, what is your answer? I want to keep you both in office, but only if you do not approve of fraud. Past our current elections, will you call for the impeachment or indictment of Donald Trump? That won’t be my only issue in deciding for whom to vote, but it will be my primary one. What is your answer?
