SON OF GOD!
1/20/2017

Hello, Everybody!

Not all of you will care about reading my next three religious column articles - beginning this Sunday in the local Laramie Boomerang - but there may be a few of you who might enjoy them. So, for those who are interested, read on. For those not interested, hey, just hit that X button on the top right of your screen and presto - gone!

I guess you could call my next three articles somewhat on the outrageous side - simply because they fall outside of the norm - our Christian norm. I received one email from a friend not too long ago stating that my very soul is in jeopardy for coming up with my outrageous thought. There are consequences, he claimed, to challenging that which has been proven to be true for thousands of years. I do not think so; and so I go marching on to my own beat, learning things on my own, and throwing those thoughts to the wind now and then.

My next 4 religious column articles are in that bent. Beginning today, they will be titled: 1.SON OF GOD, 2. JESUS - MAN OR GOD?, 3. JESUS - A DIFFERENT VIEW, and 4. LISTENING TO THE UNIVERSE. That 4th one will print in late Feb, but the first three will print - or be featured in the Laramie Boomerang - on consecutive Sundays, beginning this Sunday. Actually, I wrote the last one first, but my religious column editor, Kayla, and I decided to feature it last so that the first three in this list could be featured as a trilogy.

On another note, today is Inauguration Day! Like so many others, I do not know what to make of President Trump, but I do want to give him and his team a chance to see if they can resolve some of our big issues of the day. I did not vote for him, but he may not have voted for me and my outrageous thought either if it had been passed forward to him. So, as I figure it, we are even. He does not know me - and I do not know him. We will proceed together in that line - and see where it all goes. OK? Good Luck, President Trump - and team! I wish you well!

Speaking of being well, All is well with me! Time for this outrageous kid to take his daily walk - after I send this first article of my current trilogy on its way. And to Gary, my friend who told me that my very soul is in jeopardy for challenging "tried and true" doctrine, well, Gary, believe as you will - and I will do the same.

Carry On, Everyone!

Gently,

SON OF GOD

Hello, Everybody, it's time to smile. Hello, Everybody, your time's worthwhile. Hello, Everybody, know you are a mystery! Whether you're a boy or a girl, you're a son of Divinity!

Those are words from the Refrain of a song I wrote in 2011 called "Hello, Everybody," but I will keep the entire song for a future article. OK? For now, I want to concentrate on that last line - whether you're a boy or a girl, you're a son of Divinity!

To do that, I'd like to reference the Refrain from a song I wrote in 2008 called "Son of God." That Refrain begins: I'm a son of God. You are too. Even if you are a girl, we share the same truth. For God is not a Father that belongs to only some. More correctly, God's a Mother that nourishes everyone.

That is to say, I Believe I am a son of God - and you are too. I emphasize "I Believe." I am not claiming you must believe as I, but only that I Believe. I know, however, that many think I am belittling God or Jesus by claiming that we are all sons of God, even you girls, because it is declared that Jesus was "The Son of God" - and to exclaim that we are all sons of God is to somehow demote Jesus from being The Only Son of God.

Well, in a way, that's true. Jesus is not "The Only Son of God" if, in fact, we are all sons of God. Is he? But what do I mean by "son of God"? I mean what my other songs says - whether you're a boy or a girl, you're a son of Divinity. By that I mean that we are all under the fantastic umbrella of Infinite Sacred Existence, whatever that amounts to being. Can anyone deny that? Are we not all progeny of an Infinite Sacred Existence? Well, my name for Infinite Sacred Existence is "God." Thus, if I am a son of Infinite Sacred Existence, then it follows that I must also be a son of God. Right?

Was Jesus a "son of Infinite Sacred Existence"? What do you think? I think - or believe - that he knew he was a "son of Infinite Sacred Existence" like we all are. I believe he did not see himself as other than that, though. We saw - and see - him as more than that; but I doubt that he saw himself like we do. That is my belief; but I will keep further investigation into that notion for my next article: Jesus - Man or God?

At present, am I "demoting" Jesus by trying to clarify his real definition? By claiming that I am a son of God and Jesus was - and is - also a son of God, am I demoting Jesus? Many believe that I am, but I don't think so - and I doubt very much that Jesus would think so either. I don't believe that Jesus came to this earth to "save" us from a sin we have, but rather to teach us that "we have no sin" - in terms of being separated from God; though, indeed, we can "create sin" for ourselves by attitude and conduct that impedes harmony.

I Believe that our notions of God have been wrong from time immemorial. My last religious column spoke of it being a mistaken belief that God is masculine at all. How can an Infinite God be defined as being masculine or feminine or of any human translation at all? How can an Infinity be other than something being "without end" - and if it is without end - or limitless - it can't be confined within or by a gender. Can it?

Well, it is our mistaken notion of God that has transpired into our mistaken notion of ourselves. That I Believe. In not knowing who we are - especially related to an Infinite Sacred Existence - we have taken our ignorance of ourselves and transposed that on God.

Why did we make God a male in the first place? I think it was because of our ignorance of the ovary. When the ancients decided that God is a male, they probably based that on the appearance that only a man can produce life. They probably deduced that from the illusion that only man provides a seed for life. They (We) probably did not know that woman participates in the breeding of life with her own seed because they (we) did not know that women have ovaries. So, it probably looked like man only deposits his seed into a woman and woman only nourishes what man has deposited. That would make sense if you were ignorant of the truth that women have ovaries that produce eggs that must combine with a male's sperm to make life. Right?

Surprise, surprise! Woman is as necessary to breed life as is man. Thus, if we are honest, somehow we have to make God into a combination of male and female if we are to claim that God creates life.

But I digress. I am only trying to suggest here that we are all "sons of God." I will leave more detailed argument about that for a future article, but let me conclude this one with the verses of my song I wrote in 2008 called "Son of God."

I don’t think God’s a moral one.

It’s simply the energy for us all.

It’s up to each to choose our bonds;

but we’ll inherit what we install.

I can be kind or I can be cruel.

It doesn’t matter at all to God;

but it matters to me and I’d be a fool

to choose a path of pain to trod.

Some think God’s a person like us –

outside – to choose what he might like;

but the God I see and the God I trust

is part of all and in all is inside.

God’s not apart as we might believe,

but it’s for each of us to realize

that wherever we go and whatever we breathe

is filled with the Divine.

Some think that there’s a Heaven to come.

Well, I’m convinced that is the truth;

but Heaven’s only knowing

we’re all God’s sons.

So, I’m in Heaven right now too.

Yes, indeed, I'm a son of God.

You are too.

Even if you are a girl,

we share the same truth.

For God is not a Father

that belongs to only some.

More correctly, God's a Mother

that nourishes everyone.

Or so, I Believe!
