New Year/Letter to Editor about southern wall

1/8/2018

Hello, Everyone!

Like everyone, I have no idea what the year will bring, but Mr. Trump shutting down the government to get his wall is not a good beginning. Is it? I just submitted my first letter to the editor of the year that is somewhat about the wall, though not directly about shutting down the government. In my opinion, Radical Republicans, and not Trump in a lead, are behind that fiasco to start our year. So, I am offering a bit of opinion about it. Read that opinion if you like. OK? I will add this letter as the latest blog to my writings website too.

Personally, I am not going to be about politics beyond a few spurts now and then this year, but I will be about trying to share my mostly religious/spiritual/philosophical ideas by sharing a book I finished in late 2017 called IT'S A NEW DAY! By February, I hope to mail copies of that one to mostly family, but also a few friends. If you want a copy, let me know and I will try to include you. Alright. Beyond that, I need to get on with finding ways to publicize my writings, now that they are done. As I have offered before, that is New Territory for me. If you have any ideas, let me know. Alright?

But I would like to take a moment to thank Wayne Karberg, a fellow Laramie-ite, for answering a request I sent in 2014 asking for suggestions on how I might publish a book. Wayne was the only one to answer that request, but it was enough. Wayne suggested that I look into a thing called Create Space. So, I did; and though I had only intended on printing one book when I asked Wayne and many of you for a suggestion, time has seen me print, not just 1 book, but 8 books, mostly from past writings - and really 9. The 9th book, however, is only an update of the 4th book - JOYFUL HAPPY SOUNDS. I had to offer a new name to print an update; and so I changed the original title from JOYFUL HAPPY SOUNDS to SONGS BY A DIVINE NATURIST CHRISTIAN, but for the most part, the latter is the same as the former with 6 new songs added to the latter - and the latter will be replacing the former in terms of availability.

All of that publishing is done now, though, and I need to get on with promoting what I have done. Like I say, if you have a suggestion, let me know. Again, however, thanks so much to Wayne Karberg for steering me in a right direction to even have something to promote. Thanks, Wayne - and Thanks to all of you who have encouraged me to go forward.

ONWARD! See below my first letter to the editor of the year. The Laramie Boomerang may print it and may not, but I did just submit it. Read it if you like; and respond as you like too. OK?

Thanks!

Gently,

Subject: TRUMP BEHIND THEIR WALL!

For what it’s worth, this is how I see it.

As we begin a new year, I have become even more convinced than I was before that Radical Republicans in general are behind the so called wall at the southern border. I am sure that faction of Republicans – though not all - are convinced they should be alarmed at the prospect of immigration from the south because that immigration is seen as a threat to future survival of their party. Thus, any kind of wall that prevents many who would have entered from entering is worth it – even if it does not stop the few who may be willing to be criminals. It is not the potential “criminals” a wall is stopping. It is “future Democrats.”

In the end, I think, Republicans – or again, Radical Republicans - consider immigration from the south, from Mexico and Central America, as bad for the party because it is supposed that the vast majority of those who may become citizens due to current immigration will likely support the Democratic party, not their own. Instead of changing to appeal to future citizens who were at first immigrants, they have decided to suppress immigration. It is not President Trump who is first behind that suppression. President Trump is only following the base of Radical Republicans that believe immigration is a threat to the party. He does not lead the way. He follows; and that is why the Republicans – or the “radical” ones among them - excuse anything good ole Donnie does.

At some point, however, Radical Republicans – and all of those Republicans who choose to stay silent in the face of “radical opposition” - should adjust and change their ways to attain future security, not pretend one thing to gain another. To pretend you oppose immigration because criminals are among them when your main objective is an attempt to limit Democratic gains is simply not honest. Is it? When one starts compromising the truth, where does it end?
