Dorothy Taught me Tolerance!
1/15/2021

Hello, Everyone!

Today would have been my sister, Dorothy's, 92nd Birthday,
though she passed from repercussions of a spider bite 18 years ago
on 1/9/2003. I am not sure when Dorothy was bitten in a foot or leg
by a Brown Recluse Spider in her then home in Greybull, Wyoming,
but it was probably a few decades before her passing -
and it was that old spider bite that led to her demise.

What I remember about Sister Dorothy, however,
is that she never complained.
I did not even know that she had been bitten
until long after the incident - maybe even years.
That is because Dorothy never complained.
It was just something that happened to her,
but why complain? At least, I never heard her complain.
If she did, she did not do it in my presence.

That is quite a lesson in tolerance for me, though.
Don't complain when something bad happens.
Just take it in stride -
and be grateful for other things that are happening.
If you complain about something,
then it is a complaint that occupies your life;
but if you just take the bad with the good,
and let the good become your focus,
things will turn out just fine.
The bad might not go away -
as Dorothy's spider bite stayed with her to the end,
but in spite of it, Dorothy led a very grateful and lovely life.
At least, this younger brother thinks so.

So, Happy 92nd to you, Dorothy -
wherever you happen to be!
Thanks for your Lesson of Tolerance - among other lessons
you taught me as your kid brother who came into life
some 13 years after you were born.

I appreciate the love - and I appreciate the lessons;
and I will try to live by them.

Love to You and All, Sister Dorothy!

Gently,

Francis William Bessler -
and supportive wife, Nancy Shaw
