Child Of The Living One!
8/13/2017
Hello, Everyone!
Last week I shared my latest essay - WE'RE ALL SAINTS, BUT WE DON'T KNOW IT - which ended with my last song "Child Of The Living One." Today, I would like to share just that song. So, I am doing that below. OK?
As anyone who really knows me, knows, I am a huge fan of THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO THOMAS (THE GOSPEL OF THOMAS) - and have dedicated myself to sharing it as much as I can since coming to know about it in 1979. Most people do not know about it - and I believe that I should try to tell people about it as much as I can - since I think it is such a wonderful scripture - if you want to call it that. That is using the word, scripture, liberally to mean "any book that tries to relate spiritual meaning."
Be that as it may, one "scripture" that I have loved for a long time is THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO THOMAS. In the song below, I try to "miniaturize" or "condense" that wonderful work in verse. You can go back and review my song - Child Of The Living One - as found in my latest essay - and/or review it as offered singularly as song below.
All is well with my companion, Nancy Shaw, and me. We will be leaving home for a couple of weeks starting August 17th and travelling here and there to meet with family. I won't offer details, but I am sure it will be a fun trip. I may even write an essay or song along the way. If so, I will be glad to share it after we return - probably September 1.
Have a Good One, Everyone! Enjoy the remainder of August and think about the wonder of each of us being "a child of the Living One." It sure does inspire me - as I think it did Jesus too. Thanks to Jesus - and thanks to Thomas who wrote about it in verse. I highly recommend that verse.
Bye for now!
Gently,

Note:
This is like a little digest of some of the verses that I have come to love from THE GOSPEL OF THOMAS. I am paraphrasing to some extent, but I do believe the actual verses signify what I have written. Enjoy as you will - and believe as you will too. THE GOSPEL OF THOMAS features 114 verses. If you like the few verses (14) that are covered in my little lyrical digest via 11 verses in my song, you may like the entire Gospel of Thomas. If so, I encourage you to check out the entire gospel.
Good Luck!
Thanks!
Gently,
Francis William Bessler
REFRAIN:
I'm a child of the Living One.
You are too; so, let's have fun.
We're all children of the light.
So, let us love each other
as we pass through life.
From Verse 3:
In the Gospel of Thomas,
Jesus said a long time ago,
know you are
a child of the Living One.
Well, My Friend,
I don't know about you,
but I'm gonna live
according to that truth.
Refrain.
From Verse 2:
Jesus said:
Do not cease seeking
until we find,
but if we're troubled,
pay it no mind.
We will marvel
at the majesty of life
and reign like queens & kings
in our new light.
Refrain.
From Verse 6:
Jesus was asked if we should fast
and what diet we should observe?
He said, do not lie
or do what you hate.
And that is the best way
you can serve.
Refrain.
From Verse 22:
Jesus said:
The Kingdom
is like the little children.
So to find the Kingdom,
we should be like them.
Make the inner like the outer
and the two as one -
and that's how you'll find
the real Kingdom.
Refrain.
From Verse 33:
Jesus said:
Put your light upon a stand
so all can see what you recommend.
No one should hide
by covering themselves.
Be proud of what you are
to find your truth, my friend.
Refrain.
From Verses 36 & 37:
Jesus said:
Take no thought at all
for what you put on
and acclaim the life
you've been given.
Take off your clothes
and live without shame
to know you belong
as a saint in Heaven
Refrain.
From Verses 41 & 43:
Jesus said:
We should become passersby,
though we should love our lives
as we pass by.
We should love the tree,
but also love its fruit
if Heaven on Earth we are to find.
Refrain.
From Verse 63:
Jesus told a story about a rich man
who believed his riches
would always satisfy.
That's what he thought in his heart,
but that night he died
and lost it all behind.
Refrain.
From Verse 70:
Jesus said:
If you bring forth that within,
that which you have will save you.
But if you do not bring forth
from within,
you'll live your life
never finding truth.
Refrain.
From Verses 81 & 90:
Jesus said:
Come to me for easy is my yoke -
and you'll find repose for yourself.
But to follow me,
you must renounce all power
because power involves
commanding someone else.
Refrain.
From Verse 113:
Jesus was asked:
When will the Kingdom come?
He said:
It will not come by expectation.
The Kingdom
is spread upon the Earth
but men do not see it,
serving various nations.
Refrain (multiple times).
ENDING:
We're all children of the light.
So, let us love each other
as we pass through life.
Yes,
We're all children of the light.
So, let us love each other
as we pass through life.
